Aug. 15th, 2010 03:48 pmI see that introductions are the order of the day. My name is Himemiya Anthy, and, as Sally-san mentioned, I am one of the agricultural specialists here. I live in a cottage right off the area designated for farmland. You are welcome to stop by if you have any questions about the local plants and animals, both introduced and indigenous.
Speaking of the local animals: many of the cats and dogs, as well as other pets have been left homeless and ownerless by the recent disaster. They are generally quite friendly, though likely to beg food off of you. We've been lucky so far, in that no-one is allergic, though both Wu-sensei and I have inocculations available, if there is a need.
That said, if you see an animal exhibiting signs of rabies, or ill in other ways, I ask that you please don't approach them. Instead, please notify me immediately.
It will be fall soon, which means harvesting time, so we could use any spare hands we can get. All volunteers are welcome. The harvest won't be as large as it could be, due to the short notice post-disaster, but the land has rebounded remarkably well under the circumstances and we look forward to better and better results, as time goes on.
Unfortunately, we've been having less sucess with the local sea life, especially fish. They should begin to come back, as their niche recovers, but it will be a somewhat slow process.
